THE ROAR OF THE GREASEPAINT (5/27,28,29/2011)

As I have noted several times before in my blog, the spirit of sharing and camaraderie in the "downtown" arts scene in New York is most impressive.  Yet another example of this is the Lower East Side Festival of the Arts put on by Theater for the New City annually.  This weekend event was packed with shows of various lengths, mostly of the "sampler" variety.  Performers ranged from novice professionals to seasoned artists (such as Tammy Grimes).  The overall effect was that of an old fashioned variety show.  The audience in the several performance spaces changed as often as the acts "on stage."
